In 2005, a group of friends who graduated from Trafalgar School for Girls in Montreal decided to plan their 20th high school reunion. Through the years they had gone their separate ways, exploring different career paths and developing diverse skill sets. Upon reuniting they realized that they could continue to collaborate to help others, and since they went to a girls’ school it did not take long to decide on their cause. With first hand knowledge of the power of girls’ education and deep concern for the millions of girls and women around the world with few opportunities, they founded Forgirlsake. Over the last fifteen years Forgirlsake has made a positive impact on hundreds of girls’ lives in Africa, India and Peru. Education has given these young women a voice in their families and communities, enabling them to improve their lives and become agents of social change.
